What are the age and room occupancy rules for SANDALS?
SANDALS is an adults only resort for ages 18+
The rooms are double occupancy (1 King bed). That means the cost is for two people even if only one person is in the room. You are allowed to have an individual room, but you just have to honor the double occupancy rate.
Even though SANDALS is a "couples" resort, you can invite whomever you would like to stay in your room as long as you are ok with sharing a bed. They don't have any other room types.
What is the weather like?
Average
Bahamian temperatures are warm, on average. Daytime average: 83°F, 28°C. Nighttime average: 71°F, 21°C. In mid winter, however, the temperatures can get into the low 60's F. Since the wedding is in March, it is advisable to pack a lightweight jacket or sweater as we may experience some cooler weather.
What if there is a medical need?
There is a Registered Nurse on the premises at Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island with daily office hours. A qualified physician is also on call 24 hours a day for emergencies for an additional charge. If there is any prior medical history, medication that is needed or a present illness Sandals should be aware of, please notify Sandals prior to your arrival.
What is the policy for tipping on the resort?
Tips and gratuities are strictly prohibited for all staff except (optionally) for personal butlers and for spa services.
What should we expect with SANDALS Royal Bahamian service and promptness?
The resort setting has a great vibe and the most brilliant clear blue water! There is beauty all around! One thing to mention is that the staff are very much on "island time". The locals are informal and laid back and they respond to kindness! Please know that our American values of promptness and perfection are not always met with the urgency that we are accustomed to. This is not something that they really welcome or value as we do. If you order extra towels for example, they may or may not respond quickly, so you may have to troubleshoot (maybe grabbing from the pool). I only mention this so that you will arrive with the mindset to enjoy but not stress! If you look for errors you will find them! Remember that you can always contact our travel agent for assistance if needed, but please practice patience as this is truly the Bahamian culture. It's all good!! :)
ARE THE BAHAMAS SAFE?
The resort is safe. As with anywhere, there are safe and unsafe areas. We don't recommend traveling outside of the resort, but if you choose to do so, please do your research and let the resort know of your plans. Please leave any valuables, expensive jewelry, extra credit cards, and extra cash at home. While onsite, you won't need to purchase anything, so we recommend utilizing the room safe at all times for items of any value. We have never had any issues, but we always follow the above protocols.
